Tupac Shakur is quite an eccentric character. The singer is famous for dissing people and quite often this fact is not taken lightly by the people. One example of this is Tupac’s dissing of Biggie Smalls. Tupac was referring to Biggie’s attack on rap music at a time when he was questioning what is hip hop and what is not hip hop.

The question was brought up by Tupac’s own music. But it didn’t end there. There were questions about Tupac’s motives for calling Biggie a “young gun”. The subsequent backlash from the press and listeners in general lead to his firing from Death Row Records.

Now that he is not associated with Death Row, Tupac is free to speak his mind. He is no longer required to follow some marketing agenda to ensure that his words are published in some fashion. Tupac has obviously opened up to fans and critics in a way that many artists would never think possible. This has translated into the “Mob Rules” album that was released in May of this year.

In the past when I have discussed this album with people they have looked at me as if I had said something ridiculous. If I had said anything about this album, they would ask who the hell was Tupac talking about? And of course the answer would be that I am talking about some of the things that have been discussed in interviews.

This is the point where I have to say that I do not like being labeled as a genius or a quack, and yet here I am describing a book. The book itself is a historical account that chronicles the rise and fall of a rap empire. This is the kind of description that a famous historian would use. While Idon’t expect you to take my word for it, I am sure that if you read it with an open mind, you will find it hard to disagree with some of the details. It is historical fact that was used to write a well researched book.

The author of “Outsider: The Life and Times of Tupac Shakur” has done a great job with this book. Tupac is a fascinating character to cover. He is an extreme case because of the amount of substance abuse that he went through.

Another thing that I liked about the book is that it goes beyond how the hip hop scene was affected by the death of Tupac Shakur and examines how the book got to be written in the first place. The author was not only friends with the rapper, but he was a frequent visitor to his home. He also had an extensive interview with the producer of Tupac’s album “The Massacre”. The writer had access to a lot of material that not many other writers could get their hands on.

The last part of the book I enjoyed the most is that it delves into the hidden and untold stories of Tupac Shakur and “Outsider: The Life and Times of Tupac Shakur”. These parts of the book allowed me to read about a number of people that I had not heard of before.
